Description
The Turf Management Toolbox provides realistic workplace scenarios and problems for students studying units in Certificate I, II and III in Amenity Horticulture - Turf Management. The Toolbox is suitable for trainees, new apprentices, part time and full time students either already employed in the industry or those wishing to gain entry to the industry.
The Toolbox is set in a virtual resort called Fairway Views, where students work under the watchful eye of a number of different supervisors. They have a wide variety of turf areas to look after including amenities turf, golf fairways and greens, tennis courts and bowling greens.
As students work through the various problems presented to them they can seek guidance from a number of authentic workplace resources. These are centred around the turf shed where students can access resources organised into the workplace areas of the office, fertiliser shed, chemical store and machinery shed. Each of these areas also has a resident expert available to give advice.
Certificate I and II units are closely supported with hints and tips on where to find relevant resources and how to tackle certain tasks. Students working at Certificate III level are presented with more open ended problems and are encouraged to use the support of their peers via the online communication tools.
